    CAL-m Week 7 Review | - 10.25.2003

Week 7 was played on the new-this-season map de_comrade. The map was basically created to fill the gap of a close range map left when de_prodigy was cut due to balance issues. It's basically a T sided map but can be locked down pretty well CT side by an organized team.

That being said, we played our first match against 2d, a stacked Canadian LAN team. We got a few solid nights of scrimming the map in before the match and thankfully 2d didn't. We started off CT, won pistol round, then lost 2 on the way to winning the following 11 rounds. Terrorist side started strong as well, we won the pistol round then traded rounds ending the half up 7 to 5, giving us the win at 18 to 6. To 2d's credit if they had put the time in to practice I'm sure the result would have been much closer if not totally different.

For the second match of the week we played the Icelandic team dummies inGame. We only managed to get one scrim in before the match and we hadn't scrimmed the few days prior. Anyone who knows us, knows that we suck if we don't scrim. That was the case during the match as we really played pretty poorly as a team. Thankfully we were able to coast through due to individual skill, and poor interent connections on their part. Either way, I won't go into too much detail, I'll just say that we won the match 17-7.

The final week of matches (Week 8) starts sunday on de_cbble and we start off playing Nameless. We're currently on an 8 game winning streak so stop by the channel and help make it 9!

    CAL-m Week 6 Review | - 10.15.2003

Well tonight we finished our last match for week 6 of cal-m, obtaining both wins this week we keep our winning streak alive with 6 games now.

First we played a reformed team roe on de_nuke, the lineup was kane, spdy, kap, rhino, and bewn (match debut!) playing for max. We started ct side taking pistol round and the following 8 rounds after that things fell apart and we gave up the last 3. T side went well with us taking pistol round and the next one but losing the 3rd round, but after a save round, we took the next 3 and secured the win, after that a few rounds exchange occurred.

Just a few hours ago we took our 9th win of the season beating a 10-1-0 blazin5 13-11 with the same lineup used against roe. The match started great for us taking the pistol round and the following 6 then dropping 2 rounds then taking the rest 4, ending the half 10-2 t side in our favor. Now we go onto ct side which is most favorable on nuke, but blazin5 took pistol round and 6 straight rounds, then finally we managed to get one, but lost the next 2. At this point the score is b5 9-1 and with barely any money we saw our win slipping away. Luckily we clutched the last 2 rounds giving us the win, with one super clutch defuse by kap once again. GG to blazin 5 and gl on what s left of the season.

From this point we move to week 7, still playing outer division with similar records on a de_comrade, wish us luck and stop by #elite-pimps.

Before last week I was a bit remiss about posting an update as we had just come off of back to back losses after some mid season roster problems. That being said, I'm making a post now so something good must have happened! To be specific, we won a major upset vs Darkside on de_cpl_fire, then last night won decisively over Commando elite du Quebec on one of our favorite maps, de_inferno.

First up, the Darkside match on de_cpl_fire. We came into this match feeling confident, but basically only wanting to get more then 5 rounds (as we were predicted to lose 19-5). The roster was kane, spdy, kap (welcome back!), max, and rhino. We started off CT side and took pistol as well as the following 2 rounds after a close win 2nd round with spdy clutching a 1v2. We took the next 2 rounds, putting us up 5-0 then started to trade rounds in Darksides favor, ending the half tied at 6-6. We started T side, ran our pistol strat, and were countered perfectly (as they had 4 waiting for us where we rushed). We saved the second round, then went for third round buy and won decisively. After that, we ran up the scoreboard, winning 10 straight rounds, ending the half at 10-2 (and the match 16-8 ) with rhino having a huge half, going 22-4.

Last night's match was versus CeQ on de_inferno with a lineup of kane, wd, spdy, kap, rhino. We started off as CT on a basically T sided map, hoping to get at least 5 rounds. The match started off with a bang as I managed to kill all 5 with headshots in about 10 seconds (check it out, thanks to spdy). The rest of the half went well and we ended up 10-2. We won T pistol round pretty decisively, and won the second round (giving us the tie), but lost the third round. We came back, won the fourth round and then traded rounds for the remainder of the half, ending up 8-4 giving us the win at 18-6.

We're currently in Week 5, with over two weeks left of regular season. We still have a shot at playoffs but we basically can't lose another match. Come cheer us on and welcome kap back in #elite-pimps!
